Prego Pictures
Prego Pizza my butt!!!
I do have to wonder though if the stress of work coupled with the stress of growing a person was the reason the contractions began in the first place. The body does know best after all.
Since I am officially on maternity leave I have been looking for various activites to fill my time. Yesterday I ran some errands, picked up an item from the post office, met Eric for lunch at school and relaxed a bit in between it all. Today, I gathered a few more items for earrings and went to work making the funnest earrings of all time. My friend Dawnelle, from the Interior Design Department at BYU-Idaho, first introduced me to these earrings my freshman year and I've loved them ever since. I figured, I'm in a pretty hip part of the country so why not be inspired by her design and make my own versions. And, viola:

And, its raining again today. Good thing my galoshes finally came in the mail. Watch out puddles here I come!

Baby Update
Our doc. appointment went well this past Wednesday. We are slowly but surely progressing - 2cm., 75%Effaced, his head is at -1 and contractions are every 4 minutes. They tell me that the consistency is there, but the contractions just aren't strong enough yet, and since I'm only 36 weeks they won't do anything to 'help' me along. Which is fine, I'd rather not have then give me Pitocin anyway. This simply means that I have been in pre-term labor for over a week now.
I guess its only fair right? I did have the easiest pregnancy in the world, no morning sickness, no nausea, no vomiting. My stuffed up nose aint got nothin' on what other women have had to deal with. So I guess in the end this is what I get... a week or so of uncomfortable contractions that will steadily increase until his highness decides to grace us with his presence. We're heading over to Skippolini's in Walnut Creek tonight to take a stab at their 'Pregnancy Pizza'. They say that women who eat it typically give birth within the next 3 days.
One can hope....

31 Weeks
On the way over we stopped by our other good friend's Joe & Maggie and were given a new to us Bassinet and about 10 boxes of baby clothes! I can hardly wait to go through all the clothes and sort them out. Now I just need to buy some dressers for all of these clothes to go into.....
Here are pictures of the belly at 31 weeks and the beautiful bassinet.

Average Joe
Eric and I had our 30 week check up today. It was the usual... measure the belly, check my blood pressure and weight, hear the heartbeat. We asked the doctor how we're coming along in comparison to the 'average' couple. He said everything is looking relatively average. We're right on target with the belly size, weight gain and everything else. It looks like the bean is right around 3 lbs. right now. We expressed our concerns of the baby being garhugic because of us both being 'above average' sized people, and he said he saw no cause for concern. Phew.
But, of course, only time will tell. Who knows, maybe this kid will start packing on the pounds within the next few weeks, or maybe not. I seem to remember that I was a fairly average sized baby, but I really can't recall. Eric was garhugic for being 8 weeks early, he was already 5.5 lbs. I can't even imagine how HUGE he would have been had he gone full term.

Top two baby names to date....
1. Liam Davis
- Liam is a play on William, which is my dad's name. We both really liked Davis, but Eric informed me that it is a family name, so we put it as a middle name.
2. Quinn Scott
-Quinn cuz its cute and Scott b/c its Eric's middle name.
The plan is to have a 'bank' of names and wait until we meet him to settle on one. :)
In a Heart Beat
Eric and I had another pre-natal appointment last Friday. The main event was hearing our little beans heartbeat. I'm happy to report that it is VERY healthy. :) All in all the appointment lasted about 20 minutes and I was given my 'kick counts' card - at 28 weeks I have to start keeping track of how much he's kicking - and was told to go get a diabetes test.
Its not a difficult test, but it is bloody LONG!!! You have to drink this 8oz bottle of super sugary orange blahness (it hurt my throat by the end of the bottle) and then sit around for an hour waiting for it to pass through your system. As my reward for good behavior and for passing with flying colors we went out to dinner afterward. ;)

We're Painting the Roses Red
The other night Gale & Maureen came over for a lovely evening of dinner and remove the futon from Eric & Kelly's house. It was just as exciting as it sounds. We started off with a slowly grilled flank steak accompanied by a tossed salad and garlic bread. And finished the meal with an assortment of Ice Creams (yum).
After which Eric and Gale had the lovely task of moving the 500 thousand ton futon from our upstairs 'guest' room and maneuvering it through the skinny hallway, down the skinny stairway and somehow over/around/through the stair railing (which is really more of a wall, so I don't know how you'd go through it.... now that takes talent!). The best part of which was the fact that they originally brought it down backwards and then had to take it all way back up into the room to turn it around. Great fun eh?!?
The saddest part of the evening was after the futon had been loaded into the truck our cat, Braxton, went and laid down on it, tarp covered and all. He recognized that his bed was being taken and was showing silent protest. How sad!
Now that the futon has been safely removed from our 'guest room' we have been in the process of transitioning it into the 'baby's room', starting with.... paint! Having selected the bedding that will go in the room we chose two colors from the pattern and ran with it. The result looking a bit like this...
Since there is still computer equipment and various shelving in the room we've only been able to do two walls at a time. The other two will be completed this weekend, along with the organizing of said computer equipment.
I'm thinking of mounting the monitor on an articulating arm on the wall, and replacing the desk with a deeper, shorter one. I need to replace the now wire frame shelves with some wood ones, similar to the ones downstairs, but that requires an IKEA trip and may have to wait. IKEA on a Saturday is a nightmare. However, I have found that if I'm able to get there at around 10a.m. its a ghost town. I do believe I've found the secret to IKEA shopping.... go EARLY!!! They open at 10a.m., and are plenty busy, but since they're so freaking huge you don't really notice the crowds until 11/11:30a.m.

The Bean (and Frank)
Eric and I went in for our second trimester screening today. The tech checked out all his little bits and pieces and made sure things were coming along just fine. She was SUPER picky with her images so we were there for over an hour, but it was totally worth it! And, I'd rather her get a good photo now than have to get called back because of some kind of 'concern' over a bad image.
Here are the pictures we got to bring home of our little guy:
