dance party

Sometimes we like to have dance parties at the end of the day.

I got Eric an Apple TV for his birthday, back in May, and now that we've upgraded our phones to the 4S we can airplay our music to the TV all we want. I'm not going to lie, it's pretty sweet. We may have had to emergency airplay a few episodes of Shaun the Sheep too. Apparently it was taking too long to actually find the show on Netflix and it was faster to find it on my phone.

What is the world coming to?!?

Saturday interview

Quinn was kind enough to give me a little interview this morning.

I was trying to capture him wearing his super cool shades on film, but of course he took them off when he saw the camera come out. I did however did get this sweet shot.

This kids is awesome.

Happy Saturday!

just a cute baby running around.

Quinn_running at church

Quinn was looking awfully dapper in his church outfit on Sunday. Eric teaches the 14-15 year old Sunday school class and the string bean and I are regularly in attendance. The kids have a blast watching the Q man run around the room, through daddy legs and climbing all over my lap. He'll sometime decide to grace one of their laps with his presence, but mostly he just likes the attention they give him. He might be a bit of an attention-a-holic. Or a 'hold me whore' as my sister lovingly calls him. Either way, he's awfully stinking cute. Don't ya think?

I have a gym membership for Bally's which is conveniently located about 5 minutes away. I typically go anywhere from 3-4 days a week and on at least one of those days I swim. It never fails to amaze me how much I LOVE swimming once I'm in the water. I love the rhythm of the water. The slow methodical beat as it hits the side of the pool. The slap of my arms as they pull through the water - right, left, right, breathe. Pushing off the wall with all the force I can muster as I propel forward kicking with all my might. I love swimming.

Its everything else about swimming that is a beast. Getting undressed in front of a bunch of strangers - not because I'm shy, I really don't care, but because I know it makes them uncomfortable - Pulling on the skin tight suit. And after the swim, pulling off the skin tight and now wet suit and going through the whole awkwardness again. I really wish we weren't so scared of nudity in our culture. Oh well... It really is worth it in the end.

The Year of the Cookie

So my neighbors have this really awesome idea to bake a new cookie recipe everyday and then give some away to someone. That someone will then refer them to someone else that they can give the next batch to and so on and so on for a whole year . They're goal is to reach out and meet new people in the community as well as try out new recipes. Follow their fun filled year here.

5 Day Around The Bay

Rain, rain and more rain. We've had rain since last Thursday, and here is the forecast for the rest of the week:

That's right. More rain.

Surprisingly, this makes me happy. I LOVE the rain! I love watching the trees sway in the wind, the people being blown across their lawns, the grass turning green (if it doesn't drown), and most of all I LOVE the day after it rains. When everything is dripping wet and it smells fresh and new, or wet and rotten, depending on where you live. I even love braving the storm to walk the three-four blocks from my house to the train station and praying that a tree hasn't fallen on the tracks and wiped out my only transportation to work. Its really rather exciting.

It would be even more exciting if I had the correct rain gear. Note to self: Cowgirl boots are not a suitable substitute for galoshes. However, they're better than nothing. :)

That's right, I tucked my slacks into my way cute cowgirl boots and sacrificed them in the name of staying dry this morning. Luckily, they seem to have survived the endeavor. But there is no doubt that after work today I will be stopping off and getting myself a nice pair of these:

Galoshes (AKA: Slickers, Wellies....)

And then, the fun will ensue. The plan:

Find the largest, muddiest puddle possible and.... jump. Jump like a 5 year old without a care in world. Like this:

And then, follow immediately with a LARGE cup of hot cocoa, and snuggle time on the sofa. Ahhh, the rain. Thank you rain Gods for this awesome time of year and for all of the excitement that is to come.
