Once upon a time...
I was recently called as the Young Women's Basketball coach for our home ward, CV3, which in and of itself is a funny thing given the circumstances. I know that I'm tall (5'9") and that in the eyes of the everyday American tall=basketball. But I've never played a day of basketball in my life! I was a swimmer all growing up, and I actually never did a 'land' sport that required perspiring and running people over while hopping around on my legs. No, I chose to glide gracefully through the water and leave people in my wake, its much more satisfying. This calling is about the last thing in this world that I would think of me to do, but I must admit that I'm having a bit of fun with it.
My girls are all amazing, and I know everyone says that, the proud mama complex and all, but they really are. They're freaking hilarious, they drive me nuts, I can't get them to listen let alone actually practice and the second a member of the opposite sex sets foot in the gym I lose them completely! I love it, it reminds me of myself at those ages (12-17).
Eric is also coaching (Volleyball) at this point in time. He is assisting Alison with her Boys club team for the Diablo Valley Club in Pleasant Hill. He's enjoying being back on the court and loves to have a chance to play again. Since he has a 'real' team who are actually in it to win (unlike my girls who just want to have fun) I find it enjoyable to hear his stories about his players. How they're progressing, or not, who sucks and who kicks butt. He's such a proud papa! :)
The End
