Morning smiles

Car love from #masterquinn

I found this while getting ready for work the other morning. Considering how attached to his cars these days I'm pretty sure that's love right there.

saturday adventures

Fall 2011

Quinn and I had some pretty big adventures this past weekend. It began with an oil change, which required us to sit around at the car dealership for over a half hour awaiting the free shuttle and passing the time. Quinn found the balloons outside and apparently won over the heart of one of the sales guys who came outside to bring him his very own balloon. Needless to say there were many smiles and great applause for the delivery of the balloon.

The toy cars were then found and horded by the Q dude. He had to have every single one of them out and in action at all times. Until he found the secret compartment in the free coffee maker and decided that was now the 'garage' for all of the cars. There was much whaling and gnashing of teeth when the time finally came to hop in the shuttle. *also, I'm not entirely sure we got all of the cars out of the 'garage'. Oops*

Fall 2011

Back at home we rolled around on the floor and properly stuffed our faces with leftover Halloween Joe Joe's cookies.

And then played with the car in the tub. Because what better place is there to play with a giant car, than in the tub?

dance party

Sometimes we like to have dance parties at the end of the day.

I got Eric an Apple TV for his birthday, back in May, and now that we've upgraded our phones to the 4S we can airplay our music to the TV all we want. I'm not going to lie, it's pretty sweet. We may have had to emergency airplay a few episodes of Shaun the Sheep too. Apparently it was taking too long to actually find the show on Netflix and it was faster to find it on my phone.

What is the world coming to?!?

Saturday interview

Quinn was kind enough to give me a little interview this morning.

I was trying to capture him wearing his super cool shades on film, but of course he took them off when he saw the camera come out. I did however did get this sweet shot.

This kids is awesome.

Happy Saturday!

q's new skills

So the Q man decided to start walking a few weeks ago. He's gotten really good at it, as you can see. He walks all around the room, into the next and back without falling down. He's also decided to start opening doors on his own.

This morning he shut our bedroom door only to reach up on his tippy toes, turn the knob and open it. Eric was standing there in shock, and I was vacuuming, so I missed it, but he filled me in on the details. Can you believe that?!? What 10 month old opens doors all by himself?

Watch out world, nothing is safe now!

Just plain awesomeness

This sign is just plain awesome. I think I'll hang one in my computer room as a gentile reminder for those lazy days.

So I put Q down on his belly today and he immediately raised his butt up in the air, gave a little push and rolled over. I was so shocked I just sat there staring at him. I wanted to challenge it to make sure it wasn't just a fluke and sure enough he did it again! Yes, he rolled over the other day but it almost seemed like an accident and he wouldn't repeat it until just now.

Luckily I had the camcorder sitting right there so I grabbed it and caught this little diddy on film.

Q's new do

He's smiling! And he even laughs a little. :) I fully understand the 'proud mama' thing now, and it only gets better from here.

Quinton 'Quinn' Scott Westover

He's here!

I'm sure you've heard the good news, our little Q man is here. :) He arrived on Sunday, February 28th at 8:28p.m. weighing 6lbs 10 oz & 18.5" long. A perfectly sized little guy, who only took 18 minutes of pushing to enter the world.

True to my word I did it al natural - no pain killers, nothing. They had to give me an IV almost the minute they admitted me however, because I couldn't keep ANYTHING down. Not even the ice chips. :( But after 6 hours of mounting pain and a few very good screams and grunts - enter Quinton Westover. :)

Here are a few birth photos - don't worry, they're all 'clean'.

Prego Pizza my butt!!!

It seems that the pregnancy pizza has stopped my contractions. Yes, stopped as in no longer there whatsoever. I guess this kid has decided that he wants to stay inside a bit longer. Which is fine by me, at least I'm not in constant discomfort any longer. However this does kinda stink considering I've left work already. :(
I do have to wonder though if the stress of work coupled with the stress of growing a person was the reason the contractions began in the first place. The body does know best after all.

Since I am officially on maternity leave I have been looking for various activites to fill my time. Yesterday I ran some errands, picked up an item from the post office, met Eric for lunch at school and relaxed a bit in between it all. Today, I gathered a few more items for earrings and went to work making the funnest earrings of all time. My friend Dawnelle, from the Interior Design Department at BYU-Idaho, first introduced me to these earrings my freshman year and I've loved them ever since. I figured, I'm in a pretty hip part of the country so why not be inspired by her design and make my own versions. And, viola:

My Tuesday accomplishment

And, its raining again today. Good thing my galoshes finally came in the mail. Watch out puddles here I come!

5 Day Around The Bay

Rain, rain and more rain. We've had rain since last Thursday, and here is the forecast for the rest of the week:

That's right. More rain.

Surprisingly, this makes me happy. I LOVE the rain! I love watching the trees sway in the wind, the people being blown across their lawns, the grass turning green (if it doesn't drown), and most of all I LOVE the day after it rains. When everything is dripping wet and it smells fresh and new, or wet and rotten, depending on where you live. I even love braving the storm to walk the three-four blocks from my house to the train station and praying that a tree hasn't fallen on the tracks and wiped out my only transportation to work. Its really rather exciting.

It would be even more exciting if I had the correct rain gear. Note to self: Cowgirl boots are not a suitable substitute for galoshes. However, they're better than nothing. :)

That's right, I tucked my slacks into my way cute cowgirl boots and sacrificed them in the name of staying dry this morning. Luckily, they seem to have survived the endeavor. But there is no doubt that after work today I will be stopping off and getting myself a nice pair of these:

Galoshes (AKA: Slickers, Wellies....)

And then, the fun will ensue. The plan:

Find the largest, muddiest puddle possible and.... jump. Jump like a 5 year old without a care in world. Like this:

And then, follow immediately with a LARGE cup of hot cocoa, and snuggle time on the sofa. Ahhh, the rain. Thank you rain Gods for this awesome time of year and for all of the excitement that is to come.
