Friday night was awesome! Eric, Christy, Erin & I went to the One Republic concert at the Nob Hill Masonic hall in San Francisco. First of all the venue is spectacular! Very small and intimate, while still giving you the awesome concert feel.
They had three openers, one of which we missed, but I'm not too upset over it they wouldn't have been able to hold a candle to the other performers! The first band we saw was the spill canvas. They're most popular song at the moment is "All Over You", and holy crap that boy can sing! I'm telling you when they come in concert on their own I am sooo going! Christy and I were so in love with them by the end of their performance that we bought their album on iTunes the next day. Check it out (they have four of them):
Next up was Augustana... Dude the lead singer has this awesome raspy voice and they have a few good songs, but you have to see them live! The lead singer looked like he was having convulsions the whole time. I'd say the best part of their performance was when they went off mike and came up to the front of the stage and did a little diddy for the audience. It was really good and freaking hilarious b/c they made the announcement that they were going off mike and told the audience they had to be really quite to hear them. Well when they got going with their song a few people started clapping and I swear the entire audience yelled "shut up!" at them! It was freaking hilarious, even the band was busting up. Their best song of the night was by far "Sweet and Low"
Here's them off mike:
And then... the grand finale: ONE REPUBLIC!!!! You've probably heard their biggest hit "Apologize" all over the radio, but I'm telling you man that song does his voice no justice at all! This boy can sing. And his band freaking rocks! The cellist is totally wicked, he plays the Cello, Piano & Guitar (that is if he was showing off all his talents, I don't doubt he can do more), and he has this totally awesome curly fro! It looked way good with all the lighting coming through it on stage. But the lead singer can make your knees buckle. They need to come out with another album that really shows off his talent, their current album is good, but nothing compared to what they can really do! Their best song of the night was "Stop and Stare"
This is the cellist playing the piano when they first came on
Here's Eric & Me at the concert:
Have you heard any good music lately?
